How Tumescent Liposuction and Ultrasound-Assisted Lipoplasty Works
A common question that people who are considering liposuction for the first time have is exactly how does liposuction work to remove fat from the body?
If you watch any plastic surgery TV shows such as Dr. 90210 then you probably have seen liposuction being performed at least once from a surgeon thrusting what looks like a large metal needle in and out of the patients fat. Although these actions may look random and careless, every incision is planed in advance. The large needle like device that surgeons commonly use is called a Cannula. A Cannula is a long, hollow tube which vacuums out fatty tissues from the incision area.
Tumescent Liposuction and Ultrasound-Assisted Lipoplasty
The two main types of liposuction are known as the Tumescent Liposuction and Ultrasound-Assisted Lipoplasty (UAL).
Tumescent liposuction involves injecting, through a small cannula, a solution containing saline and local anesthetic that helps to numb and break down the fatty deposits in the target areas and makes removing the fat eaiser and faster, with less bleeding and less pain for the patient.
Ultrasound-Assisted Lipoplasty is a liposuction technique that uses ultrasound sound waves to “liquefy” unwanted fat and then it is suctioned out using basic liposuction techniques.
No matter which liposuction procedure you have, the basic idea and results are always the same.
Remember, some procedures may cost more then others or perhaps your specific body type or health history will respond better to one procedure over another, this is why it is always a wise idea to do your research when deciding on finding a plastic surgeon to perform your plastic surgery.
