Plastic Surgery: Is Heidi Montag Addicted?

Even though her recent 10 procedures in 1 day plastic surgery spree nearly killed her, Heidi Montag, the 23-year-old star of MTV’s The Hills told “Access Hollywood” that she is open to having more.

“I almost died after my procedure,” Montag said. “I had too much Demerol like Michael Jackson did and my breathing was five breaths per minute which is like almost dead. [I was] in an aftercare center, there were nurses that were supposed to be tending to me at all times.”

“So thank God, Charles, one of my security guys used to be an EMT, and he was timing my breath on his watch and he called the nurses,” she added. “They had to put oxygen on my face and called my plastic surgeon to come in for an emergency. So, it was a very traumatic experience for me.”

Montag began having plastic surgery in 2007, starting with breast augmentation, rhinoplasty and collagen lip injections. In late 2009, she had her second breast enlargement, liposuction on her waist, hips, neck and thighs, brow lift, Botox in forehead, rhinoplasty revision, fat injections into her cheeks and lips, chin reduction, buttock augmentation and had her ears pinned back. Montag also claims she is willing to take the risk in order to have even more surgery.

“I’m just starting,” she said. “Let’s just say there’s a lot of maintenance. Nobody ages perfectly, so I plan to keep using surgery to make me as perfect as I can be. Because, for me, the surgery is always so rewarding.”

Though Montag has stated that she is not addicted to cosmetic surgery, most psychologists and plastic surgeons would disagree after hearing her quoted saying “I’m beyond obsessed.”

“Even though you had ten surgeries in one day, that doesn’t seem very far down the continuum [of addiction],” said Tom Horvath, a psychologist who operates an addiction treatment center in La Jolla, Calif.

Patients interested in the risks and effectiveness of having multiple procedures can contact plastic surgeons such as Houston liposuction surgeon, Dr. Michael Eisseman.

Dr. Eisemann is one of several surgeons who offer specialized consultations for multiple-procedure patients. He reminds that its important for patients to remember that numerous factors, such as age, body type and health history are crucial in determining if a potential patient is eligible for even one or multiple plastic surgery procedures.

Since the surgeries, Montag is now starting to experience diminishing pain as well as regaining her ability to walk and move around effortlessly. Typically, liposuction surgery requires patients to stay off their feet for up to a month, on average. Montag has had mobility issues for about twice that average recovery time.

“I do love it and I appreciate it and I appreciate the science behind it,” she explained. “We [are] blessed to even have this surgery that we have. We’re so advanced. If Cleopatra were alive now, I’m sure she’d have triple D’s … there’s always been a struggle between pain and beauty. I feel like since the beginning of time.”

“I’m beyond ready to do it again,” she said.

Dr. 90210 Performs Hi-Def Liposuction

Last night on the Dr. 90210, Dr. Matlock (assisted by Dr. John Millard) performed Hi-definition liposuction on one of his male patients to help give him a more defined and chiseled look to his abs.

Many people may not know but there are actually several different types of liposuction that are currently available, one of which is VASER Hi-Def Liposuction.

What is VASER Hi-Def Liposuction

VASER Hi-Def Liposuction is a specific type of liposuction procedure that is used more to sculpt the body then to just remove unwanted fat. Traditional liposuction techniques usually fail to result in the “washboard ” stomach that many people spend hours in the gym for.

Unfortunately some body fat just can’t be burned away, no matter how many sit ups or miles you run. Its just a fact of life, some people will always have more fat then others, its genetics.

VASER Hi-def liposuction uses deep, superficial and transitioning techniques in specific anatomical areas to remove the fat like regular liposuction and creates a more athletic and muscular appearance, but the surgeon also spends more time sculpting the fat around the muscles, making them appear more defined and helping you show off that flat tummy or 6 pack you have been working for.

For those of us who just cant seem to burn off that last small layer of fat Hi-Def liposuction may just be the way to go.

Liposuction in San Antonio Texas

Plastic surgeon, Dr. Decherd, a liposuction specialist in San Antonio Texas offers this quick video discussing his views on liposuction and who will benefit most from this procedure.

How Tumescent Liposuction and Ultrasound-Assisted Lipoplasty Works

A common question that people who are considering liposuction for the first time have is exactly how does liposuction work to remove fat from the body?

If you watch any plastic surgery TV shows such as Dr. 90210 then you probably have seen liposuction being performed at least once from a surgeon thrusting what looks like a large metal needle in and out of the patients fat. Although these actions may look random and careless, every incision is planed in advance. The large needle like device that surgeons commonly use is called a Cannula. A Cannula is a long, hollow tube which vacuums out fatty tissues from the incision area.

Tumescent Liposuction and Ultrasound-Assisted Lipoplasty

The two main types of liposuction are known as the Tumescent Liposuction and Ultrasound-Assisted Lipoplasty (UAL).

Tumescent liposuction involves injecting, through a small cannula, a solution containing saline and local anesthetic that helps to numb and break down the fatty deposits in the target areas and makes removing the fat eaiser and faster, with less bleeding and less pain for the patient.

Ultrasound-Assisted Lipoplasty is a liposuction technique that uses ultrasound sound waves to “liquefy” unwanted fat and then it is suctioned out using basic liposuction techniques.

No matter which liposuction procedure you have, the basic idea and results are always the same.

Remember, some procedures may cost more then others or perhaps your specific body type or health history will respond better to one procedure over another, this is why it is always a wise idea to do your research when deciding on finding a plastic surgeon to perform your plastic surgery.

Liposuction Surgery

So What is Liposuction

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Liposuction surgery is defined as a surgical procedure used to remove fat deposits from the body. Fat is removed from under the skin with the use of a canula a hollow needle like object that sucks out the fat with the use of a vacuum or by an ultrasonic probe that breaks the fat up into small pieces and then removes it with suction.

One main thing to remember is that Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure used for shaping the body and should never be recommended as a short cut for weight loss.

Liposuction surgery can be performed on almost any part of the body. The most common locations to have liposuction surgery performed on are the stomach, hips and thighs, the arms, butt, back, neck and the face.

Even in cases of gynecomastia or male breasts, liposuction surgery can help to shape the pecks into a more masculine appearance.
